The Janks MySpace

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

The Janks are a great new rock band in the tradition of Queen — deep lyrics, rocking guitars, fanciful layered vocals, and a nod to the classic in the arrangements.  They’re managed by Indereesound Management, which recently scored them a very large show opening for the Alan Parsons Project.

This new MySpace builds off the rough hewn handpainted logo design of the band, which we placed on a crumpled paper background to give the page a look like someone just threw it off in an art class with those funny smelling paints kids use.

We took some of the lines from the logo and made them into borders too so there’s a cohesive, rough look to the whole thing.  The borders and background tile seamlessly all the way down the page as far as it goes.

We made two collages of scattered polaroids using two of the shots from our recent photoshoot with the band and gave them a look like they’re just resting on the paper.  Other photos from that shoot are found elsewhere on the page.  The whole thing has a very informal, casual look to it and is pretty eye-catching and unique.

Two links in the header… one for adds and one for emails… those will link to those functions in MySpace so folks can do those things right away without having to look down the page.  The contact table now has a matching look as well.

Indereesound Management MySpace

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Indereesound Management is a new venture between Richard Rees and Paul Inder, two long time music industry managers and artists. Richard is part of MPI Talent and Paul is incidentally the son of Lemmy, lead singer/bassist for Motorhead.

Their roster has three great bands so far: The Janks, a modern Queen sounding group; King Washington, a modern rock act; and Sugarwall, a power pop rock group.

IM’s acts are classic in their tone but modern in every other way, so the page was designed to present a clean modern look that lets the acts’ imagery take more prominence. The look also suggested an audiophile’s perspective and IM as a collector of great sounding, distinctive music.

The MySpace page uses a clean airbrushed aluminum look, with the logo (that we also designed) at the top. Just below is a uniquely presented act roster designed from a piece of favorite high end audio gear (can you name that pre-amp?), with an animated VU meter to give the page a bit of life (click here to view the full version with animation). Each picture links directly to that band’s MySpace page.

The whole page has a somewhat 3D perspective to it.

Andrew Solomon MySpace

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Quick MySpace overhaul for Bay Area pop singer songwriter Andrew Solomon, who has his third record coming out in April 2009.

We paid homage to the record artwork, including coloration and imagery, especially the natural ferns found in the main picture on the disc. We also added a YouTube video into the bio section that supports one of the main singles on the new disc.

New header

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The LA rock band Sugarwall has brought in a new singer, Ronnie Dee, so a new MySpace look is in order. Until new photos are taken and their album is ready, this new simple textured, 3Dish header will greet MySpace visitors.

Richie Debonis

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Richie is one of New York City’s most prolific underground drummers, having powered many great jazz and rock projects over the years at every club in town. Known as “Richi Van Zeppelin” by his peers for his Bonham-like rock sensibility, he recently brought this part of his style to life by recording two records with a handpicked jazz orchestra — The Nowtet — doing killer jazz interpretations of Led Zeppelin tunes.

This new MySpace page will rotate samples from all his projects. We gave him an expansive cloud level environment and crackling lightning around his name for the header — a fitting look for a legendary man.

Pure Alt-Country

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Grant Langston has been burning up the honky tonk circuit with his band both here and in the UK for five records straight over the last ten years.  We worked together on the artwork for his last two records, Koreatown (2006) and Live In Bakersfield (2008), and now we’re redoing his MySpace.

The main header photo, which we took last year at the now defunct Cole Rehearsal Studios in Hollywood, is all about traditional alt country authenticity and attitude.  The old style landscape borders also set a tone of old school, and the leather of the background adds another note.  However, the attitude is still fresh and modern redneck;  Grant is slinging the best, most energetic brand of alt country to modern audiences who’ve been fed a diet of bland big country pop radio, and they’re eating it right up.

Grant has a lot of great material in his records, so we added quick buy links along the usually blank left side for each record, for both physical and download copies.  We also added links in the top header for adding as a friend, emailing, and visiting Grant’s official site.

Myspace edits

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Bradley Keys got a new background for his myspace page with a header promoting his latest release “Free Art”.  The header links to a download page on his website.  We also dressed up his name and the headers along the left side with custom font titles.

The MySpace So Far

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

A straightforward MySpace customization for story telling alt-country troubadour Allan Frank, whose debut record “The Road So Far” is due out this fall. Recorded by Ed Tree of Treehouse Studios, the music is a timeless mixture of roots, Americana, folk, and bluegrass, so we went for an honest look and feel with earthy coloring surrounded by a rough cut black border. A close up photo by the legendary Henry Diltz is placed next to a first look at the gorgeous record artwork to come.
